Holy shit.

To everyone who came to Pico Day and followed me on the spot after meeting me: Thank you. Yesterday was one of the best, if not the most tiring, days of my life. I'd do it again - maybe not immediately but in another day or something. Genuinely insane to meet artists I've followed online for so long in the flesh.

This entire event has reminded me to not rest on my laurels and stay comfy. If you guys want to ever hit me up, let me know your Discord tag and I'll shoot a request your way. This has been Smug, you've been my following audience, and I hope you stick around for more to come.

Wow, 20 fans! That's 1 more than 19! That's a heck of a milestone. Didn't think I'd get this far making original art, but here we are. I don't really know what to say other than "Thanks!" or "Hope you all have a good day!" So thanks, hope you all have a good day!

Edit: I hope you all stick around to see what else I cook up. This is going to be a big year for me, and I don't plan on stopping my momentum any time soon.

Hi, everyone. Smug here.

I need to come clean. I've been holding in a lot of negative feelings about myself and I think it's severely affected my art. In short, I typically rush my art out. I don't work on a character design first and then post it. I just draw a single rough sketch and then give it lines and colors and maybe a background.

It just feels beneath me now. And I don't mean that in a pretentious way, I mean that in a "This doesn't feel like the best I can do" sort of way. It's no wonder I've felt really disappointed in myself for a while.

So, I'm changing how I work. I am no longer sticking my head in the sand and barreling towards a finish. I'm going to focus more on fleshing designs and characters out, and then I'll post them publicly if I feel like it. This isn't my day job, but I treated it like it was and that led to a negative impact on my overall work.

This means my art will come out slower - much slower - but it will be better quality art at the least. I can only hope everyone else thinks that way, too.

I hate Twitter and DeviantArt for their AI art and toxic atmosphere, so I'm going to move off of those platforms tomorrow and stick to posting here. I think in the long run, it would be helpful to me and my art to stay here.

I wanted to say a few things. One, thank you to the six people who followed me. I'm glad I managed to make art that some people liked. Hope you stick around to ogle at what's next in the pipeline.

Second is a question: how would I get noticed more on Newgrounds? I'm not sure of how to get more eyes on my art, so any tips would be appreciated.

Well, here we are at the end of 2023. And as a year in review, I'd say "Yeah, it was just okay." I went through a lot this year, a lot of personal highs and personal lows, and some pains I'd rather not talk about. I can't and won't talk about them in depth here.

That being said, I'm still here. The most I can do is go forward and hope for the best. Do your best, be kind and compassionate, and learn from others. And keep your mouth shut when you don't have anything important to say.

That lesson shoulda been learned sooner, but hey.

2024 may be a bigger year than 2023. Especially for my art. My mentality about it has changed, but not in the way that I thought it would. It's honestly sort of liberating.

To those that follow me here, you might not see me posting too often, but I'll be around.
